The Project

This sculpture project was conceived in 1995 and completed in 2000. The sculptures are based on the seed pods of plants native to the area. Each sculpture is placed near where the native plant grows to draw attention to its natural environment. The aim of the project was to appreciate the native plants and public sculptures.
The sculptures were made at Wentworth Falls Lake because of its richness of native flora, and also Wentworth Falls Lake had easy access to electrical outlets required for the power tools used in the project.
These sculptures were carved by various local artists and residents. The project was a collaboration of community partners, Blue Mountains City Council, stone masons, engineers, geologists and botanical experts.
Wentworth Falls is a man made lake that was built to supply the steam trains with water. It is a beautiful park land with native ducks and other native birds. It has a great picnic area with BBQ facilities and a childrens' playground.
